Transfer Contacts From Android to iPhone Easily

Moving all your contacts from Android to iPhone may seem complicated, but it is actually very easy. All you have to do is sync your entire calendar from your Android device with the Google Contacts service in the cloud and then use the Google Contacts service to transfer them to your iPhone. The result is that you will have the same contact list synced between both devices, which is great for permanent migration and transfer of contacts to iOS, but also

for transitioning between the two mobile operating systems on a short basis

Transfer contacts from Android to iPhone

The requirements are pretty simple – you will need access to your Android device and an iPhone. You will also need a Google account to do this, and if you have an Android phone you will almost certainly have a Google login. However, if not, you can create one during the process to sync all of your contact information, which can then be recovered from iOS.

We focus on Android and iPhone smartphones, but this process would work the same with Android tablets and iPad or iPod touches.

Step 1: sync your Android contacts with Google contacts

This step is done on Android and it will transfer the contacts from Android to Google:

Open Settings, then go to Accounts & sync and tap on your Google account (side note: if you don’t have a Google account, tap ‘Add an account to set up a new one)

Tap “Sync Contacts” (or Sync All if you want to sync everything) and leave the sync process complete, it may take a few minutes if you have a very busy calendar.

Synchronize contacts from Android to iPhone

Now that your contacts have been synced between your Android phone and Google servers, you can now sync the same Google contacts to your iPhone.

Step 2: sync your Google contacts with your iPhone

This is done from iPhone and it will transfer contacts from Google to the iPhone:

To add an account, go to “Settings,” then “Email, Contacts, Calendars,” and then “Add an account.”

Choose “Other” and then “Contacts,” then “Add a CardDav account.”

Enter the following details in the fields, then tap “Next”

Server: google.com

Username: googleemailaddress@gmail.com

Word: your word

Synchronization starts immediately, exit the settings and launch the “Contacts” app to check the progress, the whole process may take some time for large calendars

Transfer Android Contacts to iPhone Using Google Contacts

That’s it, it works the same on all versions of iOS and has been tested on both iOS 6 and iOS 7.

If you’re having sync issues on your iPhone, go back to your mail, contacts, calendars settings and check that your account’s sync settings are set to use SSL with port 443. This usually happens by default, but it’s not unheard of. those settings are not set correctly.

Because iPhone and Android are now synced with the same Google Contacts service, any changes on each device will sync with the other, preventing you from making changes on each device unless one has been disconnected. This means that the same trick can be used to move contacts from iPhone to Android, although there are other ways to do it, including using the very useful service to export contacts from iCloud or simply to share individual contacts like Vcard. Finally, if you are an OS X user, you can also sync anything else, like mail, calendars, and even notes between your Mac and Android.
