The last of us, ps5 PlayStation 5, remastered

Following a slew of leaks earlier in the day, Naughty Dog officially revealed The Last of Us Part II Remastered on PS5 on Friday evening. The game will be launched on January 19th, 2024, as previously reported.

A new mode brings a whole new surviving mood

The most notable new element appears to be No Return, a “roguelike survival mode” “designed to let players prove their mettle in randomised encounters and experience The Last of Us Part II’s combat in a fresh experience,” according to Naughty Dog’s Jonathon Dornbush in the release blog post. You’ll be able to play as different characters and work your way through “various stealth and combat encounters that will pit you against a range of enemies, with unique twists that can add new, unexpected factors to any given encounter.”

In terms of technological advancements, Dornbush claims that the game features native 4K output in fidelity mode, 1440p upscaled to 4K in performance mode, and an option to unlock framerate if you have a TV that supports VRR. Expect faster loading times as well as DualSense features like haptic feedback and adjustable triggers.Aside from the new roguelike mode, there’s a new guitar free play option with unlockable instruments, the chance to play several incomplete levels from the original game, developer commentary for those cut levels and the main campaign’s cutscenes, and a speed run mode.

The Last of Us part II remastered comes on a great deal

If you already possess The Last of Us Part II on PlayStation 4, you may upgrade to the digital Remastered version for $10. You may also transfer your saved from the original to the Remastered version.

On Friday, information regarding Remastered leaked from the PlayStation Network. The Last of Us Part II was initially published for PS4 in 2020, then a PS5 optimisation patch was added in 2021. Last year, Sony produced a PS5 recreation of The Last of Us Part I.

Unfortunately, the second season of HBO’s fantastic The Last of Us adaptation may be a long time coming – in the meantime, you can play through Remastered to refresh some of the plot elements we may see play out.
