Fortnite, game, Lego

Fortnite is going underground. Following The Big Bang event on Saturday, which resulted in the devastation of the Chapter 4 island, some significant changes are coming to the battle royale in a new season named “Underground.” This contains a new island, gameplay elements such as boss battles, Lego skins, and, of course, additional licenced characters such as Metal Gear’s Solid Snake and Peter Gryphon from Family Guy.

The good old island is even better now

Let’s begin with the island. The battle royale island has been totally revamped in the update, which brings the game to Chapter 5: Season 1. There’s a railway, replete with a train you can ride, as well as marinas, mansions, and a brand-new grassland area. There is also a lot of snow.

In terms of gameplay modifications, the island now has five boss characters, one of whom being Peter Gryphon. Defeating them will reward players a medallion with a highly valuable feature: the capacity to replenish shields over time. However, holding onto a medallion will notify other players to your presence on the map. “The more medallions you have, the more precise the radius of your exact location,” the Epic adds.

Other additions include an SUV to drive around in, a weapon called the Ballistic Shield that allows you to “defend yourself with the shield while shooting the pistol at the same time,” the ability to move while healing or restoring shields, and the ability to mod weapons in specific locations around the island. There’s also a new type of in-game cosmetic; now, in addition to customising your character and weaponry, you can now customise vehicles. You may customise the bodywork, decals, and wheels, and whenever you get in a sports car in the game, the vehicle will change to your preferences. (Some Rocket League things will be carried over for individuals that play both games.)

Those who purchase this season’s battle pass will ultimately be able to unlock all of the new boss characters, as well as a new version of Jones and, later in the season, Solid Snake.

These are not pixels, this is Lego

Then there’s the Lego. Epic Games revealed a new in-game experience called Lego Fortnite on Saturday, as part of an ongoing cooperation. The game is characterised as a “survival crafting” game that will premiere inside of Fortnite on December 7th. The partnership, however, extends to the game’s skins. Most current skins — over 1,200, according to Epic — will feature a Lego style option, which accomplishes exactly what it sounds like, portraying characters like Peely the banana in Lego bricks. However, it looks that these designs will only be available in Fortnite Lego experiences.

The release of Chapter 5 comes at a hectic moment for Fortnite. With the introduction of Fortnite OG in November, which brought back the original island as well as numerous fan-favorite places, goods, and characters, the game’s popularity skyrocketed. According to Epic, this resulted in the greatest day in the game’s history, with more than 44 million players on November 4th. This culminated in The Big Bang live event on Saturday, which not only saw the Chapter 4 island devastated, but also featured a virtual performance by Eminem.
