North America now has access to an upgraded Model 3 sedan from Tesla, which was introduced in autumn markets in China, the Middle East, and Europe. Known to have been codenamed “Highland” during development, it brings a number of visible changes to Tesla’s entry-level electric vehicle.
With a slimmer hood and low-profile headlamps compared to the previous model, which Tesla claims is “optimised for max aerodynamics,” the exterior now lacks the recognisable bulge on the front end, perhaps resulting in a longer range. Additionally, it comes in two brand-new hues: extreme red and stealth grey.
There are currently just two variants of the new 2024 Model 3 update available for purchase in Tesla’s configurator, instead of three, as purchasers have observed in other markets: the more affordable Rear-Wheel Drive model or the Long Range AWD option with twin motors. The previous top-of-the-line Performance model is no longer available for order—at least not for the time being.
The refreshed ‘Highland’ Model 3 has a sleek new front end for improved aerodynamics but lists a lower top speed.
The EPA estimated range of the 2024 Long Range Tesla Model 3 is increased from 333 miles to 341 miles, but the rear-wheel model’s range is still stated at 272 miles.
There is one more alteration, although the beginning price for both models is the same as the vehicles from the previous year. According to Tesla’s website, the peak speed for the two new 2024 Model 3 models is 125 mph. In contrast, the 2023 rear-wheel model’s top speed was 140 mph, the Long Range model’s top speed was 145 mph, and the Performance model’s top speed was 162 mph.
Tesla promises that the new model will have better ride quality with updated suspension tuning, brighter centre touchscreen with smaller bezels and better contrast, ventilated seats, customisable ambient lighting, new acoustic glass surrounding an overall quieter cabin, and an upgraded sound system with up to 17 speakers.
